adidas x Kader Superstar Adv
The latest addition to the adidas Skateboarding team, LA based skater Kader Sylla makes his debut with his first signature colourway release; the adidas x Kader Superstar Adv. A standout skate shoe styled in a monochromatic triple black colour scheme for a striking finish, this adidas shoe captures the skater’s creative intent without hesitation.
Naturally talented and quickly evolving to become one of the most influential figures within modern skateboarding, 19 year old Sylla has continued to turn heads since he first started skating in 2009. Getting his first deck aged seven and skating Pedlow Skate Park with his brother, Kader’s early influence came from watching YouTube videos; including the infamous ‘Best of Rodney Mullen’ compilation from ‘06. Inspired by the likes of Rowan Zorilla, Tyshawn Jones, his fellow Carcass Crew team mates as well as by all-time mentor Andrew Reynolds, Sylla was signed to Baker Skateboards in 2016, featuring in their ‘Baker Am’ and ‘Baker 4’ edits before turning pro for Reynolds’ brand in 2019. Follow on sponsorship included an affiliation with Supreme, Spitfire and Vans, whilst his parting from the Vans in 2020 lead to his most recent sponsorship with adidas in 2021. Growing up playing football and skating in adidas Sambas before adidas Superstars, Sylla’s first adidas signature colourway celebrates the silhouette’s iconic Superstar ‘80s blueprint alongside Kader’s appreciation for unique styling.
A long-time favoured design that celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2020, the adidas Superstar remains a silhouette of choice for many signature releases. A complement to team rider and British artist Blondey McCoy’s clear TPU release from 2021, Jenn Soto and Mariah Duran’s adidas Rider Series release and Mark Gonzales’ recent Shmoofoil decorated Gonz Superstar Adv, this adidas sneaker keeps its skate specific revision in check with its engineered Adv advancements. Styled with tumbled black leather uppers, a tonal cupsole stitch, cushioned sockliner and a colour matched black rubber outsole, this adidas Superstar also features a reinforced shell toe and side wall perforations for increased ventilation and revolutionised boardfeel. The recessed seven eyelet lacing system secures the gold foil printed tongue in place with both wide and traditional style black laces, whilst classic midfoot branding commemorates Sylla’s release with gold foil ‘Kader’ details. In place of adidas’ usual sidewall stripes, shaggy pony hair creates a layer of added texture, whilst the same pony hair fabric is used across each heel moustache. Finished with all-black stitchings and with signature style ‘adidas x Kader’ insoles.
