Butter Goods Q321: Collection Overview
Following in pursuit of sibling brand Cash Only’s Drop 5 release from September this year, school friends and fellow skaters Garth Mariano and Matt Evans address autumnal necessity with the timely arrival of the Butter Goods clothing Q321 collection. Retaining their deep love for music culture, their Western Australia skate scene ties and their appreciation for both workwear and ‘90s sportswear trends, Butter Goods’ most recent offering is one that leaves no stone unturned when it comes to pairing high quality apparel with a passion for progressive design.
Continuing to help the Australian skate scene renew their focus on boardfeel and skate-friendly appeal, Butter Goods’ autumnal Q321 drop keeps considerations for cut, colour, construction and custom creativity at its core. Noted references to workwear and utilitarian aesthetics are celebrated through the choice use of premium fabrics such as Sherpa fleece and high-wale cotton corduroy, with heavyweight cotton and long sleeve stylings a tribute to the colder months of the year. In keeping with contemporary trends, checkered print finishes and plaid intricacies reflect the collection’s workwear undertone, with shades of black, khaki, deep navy, forest green and auburn in keeping with the autumn months.
Loyal to their ‘international purveyor of street-ready garments’ assignment, AW21 for the Perth-based brand welcomes a number of new season Butter Goods fleeces and jumpers into the mix. Designed to provide maximum warmth without compromising on character or creativity, Q321 sweaters such as the all acrylic Mohair Knitted Crewneck Sweatshirt, the ‘Butter Equipment’ styled Downwind ¼ Zip Sweatshirt, the Sherpa Zip Fleece and the corporate logo inspired Jumble Embroidered Hoodie are styled with the brand’s free spirited persona in check. For more challenging climates and outdoor settings, Butter Goods jackets such as the ripstop Cyclone Reversible Puffer Jacket and the midweight ¼ zip Spring Pullover Jacket pay homage to archived outdoor classics with their function-led designs. Pairing tech-wear elements with casual revised sportswear references, Butter Goods’ ‘locally known, internationally connected’ sense of appeal is one suitable for all-seasons and all skate and street friendly settings.
Designed in partnership with Pompano-born Floridian team rider and San-Fran based skater Ben Gore, Butter Goods’ Ben Gore Collection features a handful of custom designed staples that capture the attention to detail and unfathomable creativity of both Butter and Ben. Inspired by vintage field sport aesthetics and crafted with a nylon quilted construction, the Gore Reversible Vest complements the AW21 selection of jackets and fleeces to deliver exemplary insulation inline with Q321’s workwear undertone, whilst the Gore Inside Out Hoodie features a centralised map pocket and the heavyweight Gore Corduroy Pants are styled in keeping with contemporary industrial-meets-skate vibes. Appearing in the brand’s ‘Global Rhythms’, ‘Expansions’ and ‘For The City’ edits, Ben Gore is a complex skater that never ceases to inspire when it comes to authenticated precision and undisclosed creativity.
Much like Gore, fellow team rider and Humidity Skateshop owner Philly Santosuosso also joins the Q321 signature apparel roster with his favoured Santosuosso Denim Pants returning for another season. Crafted from 100% cotton denim and arriving in classic denim shades of washed indigo and washed black, these straight leg and ultra baggy fit jeans combine an internal drawcord waist with a resilient construction for a ‘90s skate scene vibe that doesn’t detract from longevity or yesteryear charm. Classic Butter branding can be found throughout with custom cap-character embroidery sewn across the right side coin stash as a commemorative reference to the skater and his well known love for baggy fit jeans.
