Nike SB Dunk Low Pro ACG Caldera

Paying homage to the early ‘90s and the era of trail-running exploration, the Nike SB Dunk Low Pro ACG Caldera arrives as the latest skate-centric remastered design in collaboration with the born-to-be-worn All Conditions Gear subsidiary. Inspired by the OG Caldera Plus Hiking Boot and Nike ACG’s passion for multi-terrain functionality, the Nike SB Dunk Low Pro ACG Caldera arrives as the follow up to last year’s sought-after Dunk Low Pro ACG Terra.

Setting aside sneakerheads’ fears of cumulative scuffs, scraps, cracks and creases, Nike ACG continues to throw caution to the wind with their conditions-be-damned ode to performative wear. Transferring Nike’s passion for sport into the realm of explorative venture, the All Conditions Gear line has continued to inspire many like-minded enthusiasts since its 1989 Nike Son of Lava Dome debut and its evolution from the iconic Nike Hiking, founded in ‘81. Following on from 2020’s Nike SB Dunk Low Pro ACG Terra release and inspired by the 1991 Air Terra ACG, the Nike SB Dunk Low Pro ACG Caldera sets its sights on reviving the legacy of the iconic ACG Caldera Boot that made its chunky-soled, all-terrain debut in ‘93. Although seemingly replaced by more city-friendly hiking styles such as the Gore-Tex uppered Nike ACG Air Terra Antarktik, this wouldn’t be the first time that Nike or skate-specific Nike SB have turned their attention to classic exploration-boot aesthetics, with the recently-released Nike SB Blazer Mid Premium’s pebbled-leather construction formulating the pack’s Pacific Northwest hiking-trail muse and both the Nike Air Force 1 GTX and Nike Dunk CMFT Sneakerboot channelling utilitarian undertones to help commemorate both profiles’ rugged-wear vibe.

Showcasing a contemporary version of the same multi-tonal colourway as seen on the 1993 Nike Caldera Plus ACG Hiking Boot, the Nike SB Dunk Low Pro ACG Caldera boasts a soft-touch nubuck leather vulcanised construction that pays tribute to classic trail-boot aesthetics without detracting from abrasion-resistant function, whilst the pre-installed Zoom Air unit across the heel welcomes a sportier and skate-led uplift to its courtside and outdoor-orientated design. A speckled monochrome midsole is complemented by a bold-black rubber outsole that mirrors the 2020 Nike SB Dunk Low Pro ACG Terra, whilst the traditional circular-tread underfoot detailing is designed to make light work of any challenging on or off-the-board terrain. Contrasting khaki-toned overlays create a juxtaposing layer of tonal texture when paired with the concord-blue perforated toe-box, padded tongue, mid-quarter and celadon-blue brush-backed Swooshes to supply an almost equal-parts land and equal-parts ocean ode to its ACG explorative lineage. Interchangeable puffy-style laces secure the ‘Nike SB Dunk Low Pro’ branded tongue across the natural arch of the foot, with the padded ankle support signed off across the rear with classic khaki-coloured ‘Nike’ stitched oval trims.
