Nike SB 'Tokyo' Bruin React

Introducing two new colourways of the Nike SB Bruin React; a colourful and creative sneaker that’s designed to combine the brand’s pioneering Nike React Foam technology with evolutionary performative necessity. Originally launched last year, the compounded Bruin React pays homage to the archives with its classic courtside character, whilst its reinvented ode to boardfeel, flex and longevity speaks volumes for the brand’s exemplary design style and their recent affiliation alongside skateboarding’s big competition debut.

A play on its original ‘Rawthentic’ colour palette association from July 2020, the Nike SB Bruin React returns in both a ‘Rawdacious’ and ‘Pollen’ colourway to cast an array of undoubtedly summer-y vibes across its lightweight and season friendly profile. Remaining true to its ‘72 courtside origins, its showcase in the ‘80s hit classic ‘Back to the Future’ and its ties to Nike SB’s ever-creative Orange Label collection, the Bruin React acts as an amalgamation of all things styled for court yet re-engineered for concrete. The React Foam midsole, traditionally seen across sneakers such as the Nike Sertu, Nike Vision and Travis Scott’s ‘Cactus Trail’ Air Max 270 finds itself rehashed in line with modernised skate necessity to deliver the very best in regenerative structuring and cushioned comfort whilst certified to deliver an impressive 13% greater energy give-back than any other contending technology. Already host to a graffiti hued pastel colourway from the aforementioned Rawthentic Pack and a dark obsidian colourway from the follow-up Blue Flame Pack from later that same year, the Nike SB Bruin React sets the stage for what appears to have been a victorious silhouette straight off the mark.

Despite its big competition influence, Nike SB’s recent release of custom team kits for the skate teams of the USA, France, Brazil and Japan also welcomed signature Nyjah Free 2 and Shane additions for corresponding team riders Nyjah Huston and Shane O’Neill. Teaming up with Dutch designer, continued Nike SB collaborator and former professional skater Piet Parra Janssen for the geographic yet abstract minded apparel, Nike SB’s latest release is one that strikes the perfect balance between commemoration and creative impression.

Both styled with mixed material uppers crafted from a blend of butter smooth suede and resilient nylon for a two-part sense of reinforced coverage, the Nike SB Bruin React ‘Pollen’ is cast in a warming shade of brushed yellow, whilst its ‘Rawdacious’ counterpart is styled in a neutral shade that’s elevated but additional pops of colour elsewhere. A crisp white auxetic rubber outsole on the ‘Pollen’ is counteracted with a gum brown offering on the ‘Rawdacious’, whilst the same grippy underfoot tread beneath the cupsole is designed to make light work of any given terrain. Nike’s performative React Foam midsole provides ample impact abrasion and energy preserving function from first wear for heightened bounce and recovery, whilst the OG Bruin forefoot overlays pay tribute to classic basketball origins. A recessed 7 eyelet lacing system secures the ‘Nike SB Bruin React’ exposed tongue tongue across the natural arch of the foot, whilst the miniature black tongue Swoosh detailing is complemented across both variants by the etched line detailing across each exterior facing fabric Swoosh. Neon pink detailings bring additional characterised depth to the relaxed designs. Signed off with signature 2021 neon insoles and with a perforated interior fabric lining to help provide a well ventilated day on day wear across a multitude of settings.

The Nike SB ‘Tokyo’ Bruin Reacts will be available online at Flatspot on Sunday 25th July at 08.00am (BST).
