the Portland Trail Blazers, the design was simple yet effective with smooth leather uppers and striking block colour Swoosh ticks on either side of the foot. With additional skate focused features that provide extra protection from abrasion and impact during demanding sessions, contemporary Nike SB iterations carry the same classic appeal and are often designed in two-tone colourways with minimal fuss.

As the chosen model for a variety of collaborations with selected team riders and independent skate stores, the Blazer is highly versatile and can be adapted to low and mid lengths to suit different creative projects whilst also offering varying levels of support. Spring ‘20 has seen the first collaborative project between Nike SB and London based label Isle Skateboards which introduced the Blazer Mid with black uppers, crisp white embroidery and indigo painted canvas overlays to express Isle’s connection to creativity and skateboarding. Similarly, the Nike SB ‘Hack Pack’ released at the start of the year included a Blazer Mid Edge with a DIY inspired aesthetic and stencils that encouraged wearers to take the shoes final look into their own hands by customising the design further. Appealing to anyone who likes a bit of playfulness in their footwear, the Blazer took on a whole new look entirely for the Nike SB x Frog Skateboards collaboration in 2019 with textural hairy green suede uppers, applique frog characters and lady bug emblems on the laces and heel.

As the chosen model for many Nike SB team riders - including Elissa Steamer whose first official pro model was introduced last summer - the padded ankle collar, full lace up fastening and refined detailing of the Blazer all bring a certain something to the shoe which is immediately recognisable when worn both casually and for skateboarding.
